Early Christmas and 1.5k Escalation

Well, having between three and four Christmases in any given year, my wife and I have adopted the tradition of doing our own Christmas a week or so early. It gives us some time to unwrap and actually enjoy our gifts to each other before the hustle and bustle the other visits drowns everything out.

That being said, I have an announcement: My wife is the smartest, sexiest, most wonderful woman in the whole wide world. I had this under the tree:

I love that woman.

Of course I assembled the Baneblade the very next day, this being Christmas break and me being a teacher. It is a very sexy kit and I can't wait to see it in action. To that end I have this rough list I'm thinking about for 1500 (since a few other players are suggesting fielding one at that level):

HQ-
Primaris Psyker

Trp-
PCS - Flamer x4
Chimera - Multilaser and Heavy Flamer
Infantry Squad - Plasmagun

PCS - Flamer x4

Infantry Squad - Plasmagun

Hvy-
Hydra
Hydra

LoW-
Baneblade - One Set of Sponsons

De' Plan Master, De' Plan-
The Baneblade is the center of the army and the six Chimera provide me with a bunch of scoring units and an armored screen for the Baneblade to ward off deep strikers and the like, countering their entrance with much flame and fire. The Hydra fills out some last points, engage skimmers at range, and give me some anti-flyer that would otherwise be too expensive.

Thoughts?

  1. I think your list would be a major pain in my ass. When i first looked at it i though my list would just roll over you but now, the high number of strength 6 from the chimeras. Hydra aren't nice either.

The game would probably come down to a few factors, night fight and first turn being the major ones. Its a shame we couldn't play this out.

    1. It would certainly be one hell of a game :)

I'm actually impressed that you felt the Chimeras multilaser was noteworthy. The number of opponents that choose to ignore them astounds me. They see AP 6 or BS 3 and don't realize that my six Chimeras can drop eighteen shots a turn at the kind of medium strength that kills AV 10-11. Too many Space Marine players have lost two Rhinos on turn one and their plans dashed, only to realize that was just my APCs.

    2. Well i am used to playing with AV 10 and 11 units so i get scared of anything above strength 5 (even that upsets me) especially when you have 6 tanks with them. I don't know why marines would ignore them, but that happens. maybe coz it can't scratch power armour they ignore it and forget tanks don't care too much about ap?

Well if you ever find yourself in the uk...
