Battle Plan: Deploy defensively. Use prescience to make either artillery or lascannons accurate. Vendettas carry the PCSs for late game scoring light infantry clearance. Quadguns clear the skies and allow the Vendettas to focus on clearing enemy armor form the ground. Auto/Gren Infantry don't blob (most likely) and instead act as meat shields against the enemies attacks. Malleus inquisitor is the Warlord, the CCS is there to be cheap, give orders, and re-rolls from the banner.
Thoughts?
How come you put flamers in the lascanon squads? They dont seem to compliment each other like the grenade launchers in the Auto Cannon squads.
ReplyDeleteOverwatch. Sadly, nothing really compliments Lascannons well but it givese a unit that punishes deep strikers and is resilient to assault.
DeleteYea I guess so. well with all the fortifications and ranged weapons and accuracy buffs I think you are covered. Definitely covered for ant air too haha.
DeleteLooks pretty decent to me.
I know that those points are potentially useful elsewhere but I've gotten a lot of mileage out of them before. The way I've come to see it, the firepower of a flamer is of such magnitude better than a single lasgun that it only needs one opportunity to fire in order to prove its worth. Plus, the lascannons are so potentially valuable that if the flamers prevent a single assault (by killing assaulters and increasing the necessary distance) then they've surely proven their worth.
DeleteSadly, HWSs have never once worked out well for me or I'd take them more often. It is probably a luck thing, and I'll give them another try in Astra Militarum, but I don't use them without a place (such as placing this squad in the bastion.)
Yea since posting and i have been thinking, the flamers probably will do more there defensibly than the 15 points would anywhere else. It does compliment your list. Just at a glance it seemed weird.
DeleteFor separate weapons teams I like them because if someone does come towards me for assault I can use the heavy weapons to keep firing at their intended targets while a squad of normal men can move in to try take the assault and bring their weapons to bear. More expensive but if all goes well could give you an extra turn or 2 of shooting with more than one weapon.
Doesnt always work in practice though.
